Duccio is a businessman, married, with five children. He longs for nothing more than a day of undisturbed peace and quiet. Duccio needs sleep – because his guardian angel only speaks to him in his dreams. At the weekend, the prospects are good: it is the day of the Palio, a notorious wild horse race through the narrow streets of Sienna that is always held on the last Sunday in July. The family will drive to the seaside, the rest of the world will gather, screaming, at Piazza di Campo – and Duccio will have a lie in at last. The plan is good, but the day turns out rainy, and this radio play sets a new record for the amount of glass broken for a production.
